Smooth Relaxed Freestyle
I didn’t get ‘before’ videos of this swimmer.
She had no rotation and her face was pointed pretty much straight down in the water.
First thing I got her to do was to rotate her body/hips to each side. This makes breathing easier, lessens the stress on your shoulders and engages more muscle. It also extends your stroke amongst other things.
Her stroke immediately got smoother from this.
Next thing I had her do was lift her head slightly so that the surface of the water was at her hair line. So, she was looking slightly forward underwater.
You can see here that she has kept these actions in, giving her a nice smooth strong freestyle.
Next thing I will likely get her to do is finish her stroke with a stronger ‘push’. If you watch her left hand for the bit before it exits, she turns it way to early and is not finishing the stroke with a hard push back.
Again, always coach/correct one thing at a time.
