Aaron Freestyle Flutter Kick Before & After
Aaron was kicking way to much for a distance swimmer.
Training for a triathlon, he’s just going to tire himself out this way.
First I just tried to get him to slow down his stroke.
Arms got slower but legs still frantic.
Ideally, one wants the kick down same side as arm pushing, coming out of water.
They counter balance this way.
A stabilizer.
Used to neutralize the upward thrust of the arm.
Finally, we got this swimmer to slow the kick down.
We still need to tweak the co-ordination but he felt the smoothness and that glide through the water.
Big win.
I watch these groups on Facebook, they are trying to fix or critique several things at once.
No student can think this way.
Try to find the main thing that ,corrected, will improve as many other things as possible.
We’ll next work on his rotation drill .
This, back and forth with emphasizing the arm-kick co-ordination will get him moving way more efficiently.
As a triathlete, you don’t want to be exhausted after the swim bit.
You want to be as efficient as possible. Relaxed, not out of breath.
You have two more events.
Pretty sure no one wins a triathlon in the swim.
Have a great swim!
