Whip Kick – Proper Kick for Breaststroke

Proper Kick for Breaststroke

Whip Kick

This kick does not come to all naturally.
The feet go in kind of a circle.  You can see that in the video.
The feet need to go wider than the knees.
Takes some flexibility but once you have this, you will get much greater thrust from your kick.

Some coaches will actually use a rubber band with their swimmers to keep the knees closer together.

Practice sitting at the side of the pool.
Then practice holding the side, with your body stretched out behind you.
Then practice with a kick board.
If using a board, you will know how much thrust you are getting.

You can see each step in the video.
